The “MUST ATTEND” event upon my RETURN to CALIFORNIA

An evening dedicated to consumers, you and I, making at least one purchase to support and raise funds for the “New York City AIDS Fund”

Retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Macys, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales - just to name a few - will host games, celebrity appearances, musical performances, cosmetic makeovers and various activities to make this a pleasurable experience for everyone involved!

“The enthusiasm and creativity with which retailers and designers have approached this year’s celebration in New York City, the country and around the world, are truly inspiring” -Anna Wintour, 9/5/2010

All clothing is full price, no bargains, YET The excitement and creative approach for a “Night on the Town” theme  to help raise money for a charitable cause, New York AIDS Fund, is truly a compassionate gesture, more substantial than flustering through a rack of garments picked over on the sales rack! Charitable, in more ways than One. View Events Here

American Style vs. Parisian Style

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Upon my arrival to Paris my mind was full of the “idealistic” Parisian style - rich, luxurious, and tasteful!

After walking around and scoping out the scene for myself I’ve noticed that just as Americans they have their good/bad days & their selection of upscale “chic” and urban “fresh” styles.

I was walking at the Champs Elysees (Sham-Sel-elzee) and all I saw was mink furs left and right! here is one woman I snapped a quick picture of…

At school I noticed these guys that had an urban look- reminded me of home (San Francisco)

fitted caps, varsity jacket, sneakers

After talking to them ( with their french accents =D ) I found out that the guy on the left actually has his own clothing line (www.dtimes.fr) the graphic sweatshirt is one of his designs. They mentioned that they are inspired by American Style, but they incorporate their own style considering the slimmer fit (euro approach)and more layers for warmth (its beyond freezing out here in France).

I will conclude that the overall Parisian style is more tailored and clean. Yes, women do wear heels on an everyday basis and the men are well put together - at all times!

img_0119Over the weekend I had the privilege of checking out a pop-up store for the future Archetype Boutique, a second phase to the Grey Area foundation of the Art’s expansion in San Francisco,CA.  Before I noticed the address my eyes were already inside of the store staring at the hanging mannequins and a tree of vintage colorful hats.  Entering to courteous emerging designers and a glass of mimosa got me even more antsy about the clothes  and jewelry that were calling my name to be touched and gawd upon. My heart fluttered faster and faster with each line that I viewed.  Vintage, Ethnic, futuristic,  romantic, one of a kind, to OMG!! Whatever that is I want it.  The prices ranged from $40.00 to a couple of hundred making it affordable to all. Not to mention Wearables will be the highlight of the store featuring brands such as CuteCircuit and Grace kim.

Archetype will be geared toward supporting up and coming, local, and international designers around the principles of technsologically-inspired and sustainability-minded fashion. Expected to open in early Summer of 2010, one of the intentions of the development is to revitalize the growing yet urban area of the Tenderloin district. Not only will the new phase have a boutique, but a cafe and media center for artist to learn and express their talent.

I encourage all to support this eclectic boutique not only because of the dope clothes but their initiative to help the community and up and coming artist over the world.  Go to GAFFTA view get more information and to get a closer look at the different designers. PR

I was in the Westfield mall this afternoon browsing for christmas presents when I stopped to buy one of my favorite Ms. fields Peanut butter cookies and came across this BOMB store calledStatus”. Not only was the Customer Service on point, ( I could have stayed & talked to those guys forever), but the clothing and floor layout was beyond raw. This store  has all thee brands you need when wanting to be exclusive.  I love the creativity of the different brands they sell, and the overall vibe of the store. It has a real laid back atmosphere with some incredible clothing to go along with it. If your in the mall it’s mos def in your best bet to take a peek inside. Shoutouts to SPACE & STATUS! - BeE.S

20098

If you are city bound get a chance to purchase Rodarte for Target as a gift for your loved one before it hit stores on December 20th.

Target is one of the store’s that I admire for their great marketing skills.  This holiday season the company is making urban city holiday shopping a little more convenient.  From December 11-13th Target will feature To-Go pop-up shops in New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.  The stores will offer 50 affordable gifts that range from toys, gadgets, home decor, beauty and of course fashion items that are wrapped and ready to go. You also have a chance to choose items, like the image above, from their design collaboration with Rodarte before the collection hit stores nationwide December 20th.  Shoppers will also have the chance to win up to $500 in Target GiftCards, a gift that also gives back to The Salvation Army through an accompanying donation. This is a great idea for the rush rush life of the city.PR
