July 29th, 2010I can’t believe how time has passed so fast! My departure for Paris is slowly but surely creeping upon me and I have created a list of “Things To Do” with a matter of DAYS left to conquer them all! OH HOW WILL THIS ALL WORK OUT?! Well, early morning alarms will have to wake me up for the next few days so I can get them all done!
Meantime, I stumbled across the famous Le Tour de France on Sunday, reading my favorite French Fashion Magazine I observe how shoes get pointy and purses get boxy, Saks NYC is expanding in a new & major way, Colette is the talk of the town for more reasons than 1 and I have the extreme pleasure (courtesy of my all-time favorite) of visiting the BEST PLACE ON EARTH…DISNEYLAND PARIS =D
After seeing Toy Story 3 just weeks ago I could help but feel one with this place and I had to take a picture (p.s. I pick Toy Story 3 over Inception ANY DAY) =)
And when the Disney Train with all the characters I love rode past I experienced extreme glee waving back as it I was a child of the age of 3

July 29th, 2010Sunday Morning (the day in paris when EVERYTHING is closed) I decided to take a peaceful stroll along the beautiful Garden Tuileries until I got off metro and was bombarded by a sidewalk of people sitting and standing as the streets were blocked off and police were patrolling the area (NO LONGER A PEACEFUL STROLL) People cramped everywhere, no where to maneuver easily, I finally asked “What is going on?” I was informed that Le Tour de France was coming through our area and it is a MUST-SEE event if you are in Paris!
Le Tour de France is the well known and most prestigious of cyclying’s 3 Grand Tours. The annual bicycle race is held in France, covers more than 2,200 miles and last 3 weeks. The race is broken into day segments (stages) and the winner is determined by the individual’s overall time at the end of the race. As the course changes every year, Paris is always the ending location. Celebrities Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz were even in attendance for this grand event to do some off screen promo for themselves.

Hermes x Colette
July 29th, 2010Last week, French Fashion House, Hermes, announced their collaboration with popular Parisian boutique, Colette. The boutique will soon carry a collection of scarves “le carre” since Hermes is known for their beautifully designed silk scarves. Matt Irwin (Hermes photographer) was sent London, New York, Tokoyo and Paris of girls (and guys) making the most out of these Limited Edition new scarves that are set to hit stores in September. Meanwhile get a preview of the collection as it appears in various ways - wrapped around heads, over purses and some even as tops.
Even Better- Inspired by the montage of photos and videos’ Matt Irwin captured for this collection, come September, Colette will launch a global campaign, “J’aime mon carre” with the best snap sots of you and your Limited Edition Hermes scarf that will be featured in the store’s up coming exhibition.

July 29th, 2010Walking from the Le Tour De France I spotted this bomb red trench out of the crowd and as I walked closer I saw that she paired them with these bold Aqua Blue Wedges and then I saw her tortoise Wayfarers…
I was walking not far from this adorable pair and I finally asked for a picture, she nicely accepted and said she was just complimenting my look of the day to her companion. =) They were a chic duo.
She also had an beautiful blue scarf hanging from her Chanel shoulder bag to accent her look. ~classically feminine
As I was leaving the YSL exhibit at the Petit Palais earlier today I walked through a peaceful and serene cafe outside of the Palais and this visual is about as “Euro-Style” as it gets
What we call “Having a Cafe” - Beautiful weather, Fashionable Sunnies and Meaningless conversation just because it’s Paris =)

“Saks Expands”
July 29th, 2010Reports have been released that Saks Fifth Avenue NYC is adding plus-sized garments to their high-end sales floor. Luxury labels such as Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Escada, Donna Karan, YSL, Roberto Cavalli and Alexander McQueen just to name a few will now sell up to a size 14 with some pieces available in sizes 16 and 20.
Now, while I am happy to see that they are expanding their clientele I also have HUGE mixed feelings about this “fashion move”
"Regular" Model (Old Consumer Look)
"Plus Size" Model (New Consumer Look)
1.) I’ve been living in Paris for 6months and even with luxury brands I have been at the cash register with size 12&14 garments (I’m 150lbs, 5′10 and in US sizes I am normally a 8/10…so i question the ACCURACY of their “plus size” collection
2.) Yes, fashion commonly targets a more “malnutritioned” looking woman BUT is the solution to this “real women in fashion” campaign to ONLY increase sizes sold on high-end sales floor, opposed to widely changing the appearance of the “model” who walks down the runway wearing all the new garments for the upcoming seasons?
3.) Consumer Loyalty - Now that Luxury Brands as Chanel, McQueen, YSL, and Oscar de la Renta are trying to appeal to a new consumer, how will the old and new (consumers) react to this expansion?
- Old (skinny chicks) are probably baffled from this decision and may choose not to shop in Saks NYC (more of an extreme case).
-New consumers (”Real women” who have been deprived from luxury garments in fashion) are probably excited, yet once it comes to shopping in the store will they have the same joy walking to the “plus size” area of Saks as all the Old consumers look/stare and provide an uncomfortable shopping experience for the New?

Pharell Williams x Moncler Launch in Paris
July 29th, 2010While most of you (in the US) are probably asking yourselves “What happened to Pharrell?” Well, he is doing business in Paris, becoming a real Euro-Star! He has teamed with the Brand Moncler, designing a collection of coats which specializes in fine Quilting Leather.
eurThere was a cocktail gathering for this fashion event at the popular Colette Store with a number of distinguished guests. I happened to be walking down rue Saint Honore a few weeks ago and randomly spotted Lupe Fiasco I’m assuming it was around the same time this event was held because here a pictures of him at the Colette Store right on rue Saint Honore for the Pharell & Moncler Collaboration.

A no4corners chick BRI was nice enough to email these photos of another Out the Box chic, Kelis. The “Flesh tone” singer performed at the Mezzinine in San Francisco and Bri captured these shining photo’s. We asked the fan to describe what she felt about Kelis’s sparkly get up and her answer was more of a emotional influence than a head to toe description: “very iconic and all heart felt, basically a free spirited mind set!“
