I HATE the fact that Oprah Winfrey stated she chose career over family.  For those Men and women who want it all, to hear Oprah say this, Is it Possible? Can you have family AND a successful career?  YOUR THOUGHTS??

Read as Oprah wants to create moments on her last season of the “Oprah Winfrey Show”:

I don’t intend to be crying the whole season,” Winfrey told TV Guide. “The only time I get really emotional and nostalgic about the show is when I think about the viewers. Hopefully some of them will follow me to OWN, but I know not everybody will.”

Winfrey added that “the show hasn’t been a big part of my life. It’s been my life. I didn’t have children. I had the show.”

Oprah to Announce her “Next Chapter”

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Oprah Winfrey  will announce “Oprah’s Next Chapter” sometime today. Winfrey was reluctant to have her own show on her new OWN Network, but decided what the heck, why not?

The evening show will still be interview based, while Oprah travels the world to places like Egypt and have guest tag along with cameras in tow.

Very Different for Winfrey, but one thing I admire about her: no matter how successful she is, she always has a self goal. I’m learning that without a goal, any type of goal, you are lost as a person.

“The Oprah Winfrey Show” to End in September 2011

Oprah Winfrey is giving network television one of her trademark aha moments.

Ms. Winfrey, the billionaire queen of daytime television, is planning to announce on Friday that she will step down from her daily pulpit, “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” in two years in order to concentrate on the forthcoming cable channel that will bear her name.

“The sun will set on the Oprah show as its 25th season draws to a close on Sept. 9, 2011,” Tim Bennett, the president of Ms. Winfrey’s production company, Harpo, said in a letter to her 214 local TV stations on Thursday evening. She will appear on her cable channel, called OWN: the Oprah Winfrey Network, in some form. But The Oprah Winfrey Show” will no longer be.

The list of repercussions of her decision is long. For CBS, the owner of syndication rights to her show, it means the loss of its signature program and millions of dollars every year in revenue.

For ABC stations, where her show was largely seen, it means the loss of daytime’s most popular program, a generator of giant audiences leading into evening news programs.

Larry Gerbrandt, an analyst for the firm Media Valuation Partners, said “any show that ABC comes up with to replace her will not draw anything near the ratings guarantee they could count on with Oprah. At least for the first year, ABC is going to take a serious hit.”

The days of Oprah being the best thing on daytime network television are coming to a close. Deadline.com is reporting that Oprah’s finally ready to move her popular program, “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” to the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) when her contract with ABC expires in 2012.

OWN is a joint venture between Oprah and Discovery Communications. It was supposed to launch in place of the Discovery Health Channel, but has been regularly pushed back. Sources in Oprah’s camp confirmed that Discovery told Oprah her time is up and that if she doesn’t make plans to bring the show to their network, she could risk losing the deal, which already guarantees her network in 70 million homes.

Tyler Perry Abused As a Child

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

Tyler Perry took to his Web site to reveal harrowing details on childhood yesterday. The 40-year-old director, who is backing the much-buzzed indie darling Precious, made the candid revelations because he felt that his story–and the story of Precious–will resonate with victims of abuse. The film, co-produced by Oprah Winfrey and stars Mariah Carey and Mo’nique opens November 6.

Parallels of psychological and physical abuse between the film’s title character and Perry are uncanny. Perry describes a childhood where his was sexually abused by a male friend of the family and on another occasion–the mother of one of his friends. He also describes witnessing his father molest a young girl. Among the disturbing physically abusive allegations, Perry says his grandmother bathed him in ammonia in an attempted to cure him of allergies.

Tyler Perry on being sexual abused by a male friend of the family:

I got a call not long ago from a friend. He told me that a man that I knew from church when I was a kid had died and he didn’t have any insurance. His family was trying to reach out to me to see if I would pay for his funeral. I quickly said no, but I wish I would have said yes. There is something so powerful to me in burying the man that molested me. I wish I would have dug the grave myself.

On being sexually abused by his friend’s mother:

I couldn’t have been more than 10 years old when I went over to play with her son and Matchbox cars. She opened the door in skimpy lingerie. There was a man sitting on the couch, smoking. She told me that her son was in the bedroom. I was there playing with him about 20 minutes when I heard the man arguing with her. He said he was leaving and slammed the door. She came into the bedroom and told me that I had to go home. She told her son to take a bath and she locked him in the bathroom. I was at the front door trying to get out, when she came in and laid on the sofa and asked me if I wanted the key. I told her I had to go home as it was getting dark. She put the key inside of herself and told me to come get it, pulling me on top of her.

On watching his father sexually abuse his female friend:

I was about 8 or 9 years old. I had a crush on a little girl across the street. She would come over to my house and we’d play. She was about 12 or 13. One day she stopped coming and when I asked her why, she told me that my father was touching her. I didn’t believe her, so I talked her into staying one night. We were both asleep — she was in one bed and I was in another. I opened my eyes to see my father trying to touch her and her pushing him away. I moved in my bed trying to make him think I was waking up. He looked over at me and left out of the room.
