ESSENCE.COM: You expressed that you wanted to set the record straight about the season finale that airs this Thursday. What gives?
NENE LEAKES: I had a meeting with production because I was really upset with the final episode because I believe I was portrayed as this evil person.
ESSENCE.COM: How so?
NENE: Well, a lot of things are edited to be seen a certain way, when in reality it’s really not that way all the time. Don’t get me wrong, the events that are taking place are real, but depending on the editing they can cut and paste and make it appear as if you say something at a certain time when it didn’t happen in that sequence at all.
ESSENCE.COM: Understood, but you’re not an ingénue to dramality TV and this practice is nothing new, so why are you so upset about the show’s portrayal of you now?
NENE: Yes, I know that’s what they do, but the first season they didn’t edit me. It happened this season because we have a different show runner and this season has been a lot more planned and scripted. Last season they just let us go which made for a great show, but this time around, the show runner will say something like, you need to go over there and talk to Kim about “Tardy for the Party.” They’ve also been making a lot of changes to the sequence of events. For instance, we all arrived to Sheree’s fashion show late because there was a huge car accident, and when we arrived they all ushered us to our seats and the show began immediately, but when you see the episode they show me talking to Kandi which is not what happened.

Watching Kandi Burress as the new member on the cast of “The Real Houswives of Atlanta” kills my heart sometimes. If you watch many people are against her fiance, A.J Jewels. If you don’t already know A.J has 6 children be 4 different women (”Papa was a rolling stone. Wherever he laid his hat was his home”). So Supposedly their trials have begun even before tying the knot. I forgot Kandi co-wrote TLC- No Scrubs. If all is true behind A.J take your own advice. Heres an brief interview Kandi had with E! News:
Will we see your wedding on camera? No, uh uh, it didn’t get that far. You will see us trying to plan, but you will see a lot of the problems and the different issues that are going on.
Have you set a date? We haven’t set a date and I’m just going to be real with you: We have been having serious issues. My drama has been ongoing since the taping has stopped. We just got engaged right before the taping of the show. So things that I would have to deal with or things I would have to learn about, I had to learn about and deal with it while the cameras were there, which makes things even more tense, you know what I mean?
Of course, but are you still together? Um, we are dealing with things, but that’s about as far as I can go.
Now, let’s talk about NeNe. She told me she thinks you don’t like her because Kim got in your ear and was badmouthing her to you. Is that true?That is so not true. The thing about it is I was a fan of NeNe’s last year watching the show. But once I got to know her, things changed. I still think she is a cool person and fun to be around, but some of the things that come out of her mouth is crazy and how she talks to people is crazy to me…It wasn’t even about what she said, but how she was talking to me. It was how she tried to loud talk people and be rolling her neck and putting her hand all up there. That can’t happen with me!
Every time I see her I really wanna yell: “Who Cares? Be yourself” when it comes to other peoples preference in relationships. As long as couples are happy with one another and with your ’self,’ kudos!
