Changing Your Life is Changing Your Story

change-1

Ask yourself:

“Are you Living Your Life, or Your Story?”

Changing your story, changing your path that life takes you when things are not working as you had orginally planned is key to success at heart and finding your self.  As easy as it sounds tackling head on what “your story” says you can’t do, what is inferior, and your fears will get you furthest. Listen to this video (HERE) as Toni Robbins, a Life/Leadership Coach, helped former NBA player Juaquin Hawkins change his life when his story unfolded.

The story of Juaquin Hawkins’s life changed in a single day, when he suffered a stroke and could no longer play professional basketball for the NBA.

Hawkins was able to physically heal from the stroke, but had not psychologically healed from the crisis. The story he was telling himself — and that he and his family were living — became: If I’m not a basketball player, I’m nothing.

“That breakthrough moment is when you find yourself changing your story,” says Tony Robbins. “In life there are events and there is the story of the event. And the story we come up with can either empower us or disempower us.”

The best way to break out of your story, he says, is to get yourself to do something that your story says you can’t.

“If a negative thought pops into my head I talk to the voice within me and say, ‘I know you want to tell me that I’m less then desirable, but not now.  You can come back in a couple of days and cut me down when I’m done with this shoot.  I promise to let you in then.’ ”

The Heart is the King…Let It Do Its Job!

king-hearts

Yet our heart is so much more than a vessel for romance! It has been described as the king, with the mind as the king’s advisor. When faced with a decision, the king may ask his advisors for advice, may even send them out into the world to gather information, but ultimately it is the king that makes the final decision. Even though the advisors do not always agree with the king’s decision, the king is invariably right, as the king’s view not only sees the bigger picture but is also aware of the needs of others.

Do Things Different This Week…Monotask!

prioritize-af

This is the week of stepping outside the box, try something new, taking a step towards the person you want to be. Start with Monotasking, instead of multi-tasking.  Life is moving so fast we find ourselves doing a million things at once.  It is hard to concentrate on one task, but will doing one thing at a time make everything you have on that long list of to do’s go faster? (with no mistakes I may add).

I loved this definition of Monotasking: deliberately concentrating on one thing at a time in order to avoid procrastination, maintain focus, and achieve a state of flow in your work. (source)

So this week, do one thing at a time. If any one or thing tries to distract you simply remind yourself: I’M MONO-TASKING!  and Smile.  Apply this with Life Goals and the puzzle pieces will start to fit.

Some tips on Monotasking: (more…)

stress-and-sleep

Ask Me Do I Care?………Hell Naw!

Get Rid of the stress and unhappiness in your life by not worrying. Many people fall victim to worrying too much not understanding that doing this causes mental and physical weakness. Not worrying does not mean something is not important. Answer these questions truthfully to see if your addicted to worrying.

1. You’re Depressed, Concerned and Fearful about Everything!

2. You Spend Time with Other Worriers.

3. You Turn to TV and Movies as a Way to Escape the Thoughts in Your Head.

4. You Continuously Wake Up at Night From Your Mind Chatter.

5. You Continuously Go to the Worst Case Scenario First.

6. You Use Food, Alcohol or Drugs to Control Your Moods.

So, are you guilty? Or perhaps does this sound like someone you know? If the answer is “yes,” let’s look at why and what to do about it!

A WOMAN’S WORTH…

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Came across this quote in the May 2010 issue of Essence Magazine.  A group of Black Men and Women was having a round table discussion about what else?? Why are Black women single. Each side had very valid opinions, but one mans comment applies to every woman. The key to finding a great man you ask?

” Be as Spunky as a woman in her twenties, as Sexy as a woman in her thirties, and as Responsible as a woman in her forties. That’s Dynamic!”

Other than dynamic, this is hard as hell if you do not possess confidence and self worth within. So ladies, think about this quote as you go about your day. Fellas- twist the quote around vice versa because this goes both ways!!

BE HAPPY…..SMILE MORE THIS WEEK
